Press Statements Telluride Daily Planet, March 20, 2008 This Durango-outfit plays what they call red-dirt blues, which to me, sounds like country-blues seared with the hot-iron brand of some seriously intense guitar licks and led by gritty, pain-filled vocals of Strahan. The music is mellow but fraught with blues and passion and desire. By Mark Kneubuhl, San Angelo Live, November 3, 2007: Jeff is an extremely accomplished guitarist and keyboard player, who sometime plays both simultaneously, leaving the audience wondering, ‘how can he do that?’ But knowing his history, one understands that his gift didn’t come naturally, but rather through decades (yes, decades!) of playing in every bar and juke-joint in Texas and much of the surrounding region. Alas, his name is still relatively unknown because all that footwork in the 1970s and 1980s was done under the name of two different bands. If you like music, checking out Jeff Strahan is a worthy investigation. If you like the blues, it’s a must. For the complete article in San Angelo Live, click here
DJ Ken Brott, KSUT Radio Studios during live Webcast/Radio Show, March 2006: "Very Nice! Believe it or not ladies and gentleman, there are only Three Guys next door, sounds like there's about Ten of them. We've got the windows rattling in the studio here which hasn't happened in a while and its good to get that Vibe Going."
Dave Thompson, Little Dave & Big Love (Electro-Fi Records) March 2006: "Strahan has a great voice and is a really good player. My favorite thing about him is his songs. They are not your standard "my woman left me" blues and the new sound is refreshing.
Jason Smallheer, Marketing Manager, Durango Mountain Resort, February 2005: "I have never seen a crowd reaction like these guys had and I've seen a lot of bands. We had to actually ask them to try and calm people down when they did their second show for fear that the crowd may start an all out riot, ha! It was great!"
Telluride Daily Planet, September 2002 (during Telluride Blues and Brews festival): "Last time these guys were here, they were all over the bar. The crowd was really into it. The crowd got so big, we had to turn people away at the door."
John Lee Hooker, Jr. (Kent Records) February 3, 2005: "Jeff is an entertainer of the highest caliber. He is sincere, plays from his heart, and will make you smile."
John Handy, Jr. (professional drummer/grandson of Blues Legend W. C. Handy and son of Jazz Legend John Handy, Sr.): Jeff is the real deal. I pray that God will bless him in the greatest of ways and give him all the success possible because he deserves it. His talent is rare and the whole world deserves to be exposed to this type of entertainer."
Buddy Magazine, Dallas Texas: "This guy's voice is powerful and consuming, he will go far" Fan Statements
Thanks for 3 great nights of
music and fun at Scoots! It was my first visit to Durango, and your show
was the most memorable part of the trip. (The beer was way up there,
too!)
Good luck in all your
endeavors. I hope you can get to Des Moines sometimes. I will
certainly put in a good word for you. . .
Jeff Postal, Des Moines, Iowa, Sept. 05
I might have asked you this
when I was out there.
Do
you have any business cards I could give to some of these bar owners around
here.
We have so many places around
here with live entertainment it may be possible to get you out here for one of
them.
Believe me, of all of them I
have heard, not one holds a candle to the Strahan Band!
Hope
to see ya again soon. Randy
